Pensar Construction Group
Timeframe:
3 Days
Brief:
Demolish a Brisbane City Council pedestrian bridge made of concrete and steel.
Process:
- Plumbing, gas and electrical services were disconnected or capped.
- A demolition permit was secured.
- The bridge deck was cut into sections, which were then craned onto trucks for transport.
- An excavator was used to mechanically demolish and remove the bridge pillars, headstocks and abutments.
Challenges:
To reach the pillars, the excavator had to enter into the creek on a custom-built rock pad. This pad was removed following the completion of work. Clearances in the work zone were restricted by the concurrent construction of the replacement bridge.
